“When an asana comes about spontaneously as a natural expression of one’s interior state, it will be perfect…performing asana by effort of will can never have the same perfection…when asanas are done as a yogic practice as a purpose of attaining the revelation of Union with the One which eternally exists, then only they bear the desired result. If only done as a physical exercise, they will bring about health and fitness but that is all, not true Union (Yoga).Together with asana (Hatha Yoga) one has to practice Raja Yoga (meditation and specific mental disciplines), otherwise it is merely physical exercise.”
